Traditional Bakery
At Vermeulens we don’t believe in messing with things that work – that’s why we still bake our bread in the same way we did more than 50 years ago. We also make the majority of our dough by hand using the same traditional method.
Our breads are legendary throughout North Shropshire and we bake all types - from malted loaves and sourdoughs to moreish white cobs and tiger breads. If you have a special request, please give us a call and we’ll do our best to make you happy.
Cakes and Cupcakes
We have our very own in-house cake-making team that has been with us for over 30 years. Always very much in demand, we work on having a wide range of British favourites and are also able to design and make cakes by special request.
Our shop always has a big range of delicious cakes, but from time to time we like to tempt you with something a bit special – ask in-store for our current favourite. And don’t forget to let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
Hampers
Our fantastic range of hampers are very popular and each one is packed with delicious produce. From Shropshire meats and cheese to homemade cupcakes, fancy cookies and even a selection of your favourite beer and wine. Just let us know what the occasion is and we’ll fill your hamper with all your favourites. And remember, hampers are not just for Christmas - they make a superb gift for any special day or celebration.
Speciality Meats
At Vermeulens we have a very loyal following for our meats, including fantastic wild and game varieties. People visit us because they know we can guarantee the best quality locally sourced produce, all of which goes to benefit our trusted local farmers.
We stock the finest Cumberland sausages, traditional pork, home-cured streaky and rindless back bacon as well as turkey, chicken, beef and pâtés. It goes without saying that we can supply you with the exact quantity and cuts that you need.
Homemade thick-crust pies
Who doesn’t love a thick crusty pie, especially one as home-cooked fresh as ours? We always source our meat from local butchers and farmers from Shropshire and nearby Wales.
