Vermeulens is a Bakery and delicatessen selling a wide range of locally produced foods and freshly baked products made each day. The bakery first opened its doors last century, in 1968. A year when, Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey mesmerised cinema audiences both sides of the Atlantic and the Beatles Hey Jude topped the musical charts.
From humble beginnings to present day, we endeavour to provide a wide range of freshly baked and locally produced products. Whatever tasty treat takes your fancy, you will find us just east of Market Drayton and north of Shrewsbury, based in the delightful Shropshire town of Ellesmere.
On our doorstep flows the Shropshire Union canal that runs towards the Mersey Estuary in the north and down to the River Severn. Our shop is surrounded by no fewer than nine glacial meres, with many locals referring to our unique location as the North Shropshire Lake District due to the breath-taking scenery that encompasses our town.
We believe that the best bread is always homemade and baked fresh.
Visit us to get your backed goods today, or get in touch on 01691 622 521 for more information about what we sell.
This means your freshly baked goods are treated with the same love and care they would have been way back when we first started.
From malted loafs, sourdoughs, white cobs to the wonderfully filling tiger breads that have become so popular when shared with soups, we stock a wonderful range of freshly baked breads ready to take home with you today.
We're famous for our varied and exciting choice of home cooked meats and speciality pies.
All of our products are locally sourced and go towards benefiting our local farmers.
